State Of The Union
King George addressed his subjects tonight reassuring them their country is doing better than ever under his reign.
Concerning the war in Iraq he said, "And we are on the offensive in Iraq, with a clear plan for victory." [really your HighASS and what might that be?]
I found this to be especially interesting...
In recent years, America has become a more hopeful Nation.
Violent crime rates have fallen to their lowest levels since the 1970s. Welfare cases have dropped by more than half over the past decade. Drug use among youth is down 19 percent since 2001. There are fewer abortions in America than at any point in the last three decades, and the number of children born to teenage mothers has been falling for a dozen years in a row.
These gains are evidence of a quiet transformation – a revolution of conscience, in which a rising generation is finding that a life of personal responsibility is a life of fulfillment. Government has played a role. Wise policies such as welfare reform, drug education, and support for abstinence and adoption have made a difference in the character of our country.
[cough]
If you believe this folks I have some mountain land in Florida I'd like to sell ya. Needless to say, the majority of what Bush said tonight was lies and more lies, just more of the same.
Here is a rundown as to certain words Bush said and how often he said them. I thought I'd take the SOTU speech down to the lowest common denominator.
Freedom: 17
Economy: 14
Iran: 11
Competitive: 9
Billions: 8
Military: 8
Terrorists: 7
Democracy: 6
Iraq: 6
AIDS: 6
Energy: 5
Oil: 3
Budget: 3
Terrorism: 3
War: 2
Troops: 2
WMD: 2
Evil: 2
Health care: 2
Bin Laden: 2
September 11th: 2
There you have it, do you see the pattern? It's easy to see where the priorities are.
If you missed HRH G W Bushes lies...um, speech, you can read the full text here.
