Your Help Is Needed

I realize many of us have given and given to causes that our country at one time took care of such as equipment for our troops, hurricane victims, tsunami victims, earthquake victims, victims from terrorist attacks etc etc. American's are very giving people especially when it's for a good cause and this is for a good cause.

There is a state of the art, world class rehab center being built to provide further help to our military as they try to cope with getting on with their lives. Many of those being treated are multiple amputees and badly burned. The website: http://www.fallenheroesfund.org/fallenheroes/index.php

This website will answer questions you may have but the important thing is that every single cent goes to the building, equipping and care of the wounded and their families. No administrative costs.

This is neither Democratic or Republican or whether you agree or disagree with the war. It's America's responsibility to take care of these people. As of yesterday, the fund is $3 million short of its fundraising goal of $35 million. Can you help? Every dollar counts.

Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Libby

Getting Our Priorities Straight

If I read anymore speculation about the ever incompetent, Vice President Dick Cheney I'm going to puke. The shooting accident story has been going on now for four days, six days since it took place and the Democrats can do nothing but harp on it. For God's sake, there is so much more that Liberal bloggers and MSM should be talking about than what a bumbling hunter Cheney is. Okay, you wanted him to talk to the MSM about the accident and he has,
Cheney Says Shooting Was His Fault, But He Stands By Decisions On Disclosure. Move along folks there's nothing to see.

Let me see if I can find something for you folks to be outraged about...

Look at the picture of Bush/Cheney and repeat after me, these are the men who stood before the world and started a war based on lies and deception, causing the deaths of hundreds of thousand of people, nearly 3,000 of our own [so far].

Not outraged enough? Try this...

Look at their picture and repeat after me, these are the leaders of the greatest country on earth and they advocate barbaric torture practices against prisoners, basically spitting on the Geneva Conventions yet all the while lying to the world that, America doesn't use torture.

Still not outraged enough? Look at the newest pictures of America not torturing prisoners.

How about this outrage...The Bush 2006 Budget. I dare you to go to this site and see if you're outraged at what Bushes budget is going to cut from your state.

Then there's the outrage over the illegal spying I posted about yesterday.

America is being distracted from what this corrupt administration is really doing. If America is more outraged by Cheney accidently shooting his "good friend" than what I have presented here, then I'm afraid America is in extremely serious trouble. Instead of being outraged about the lies and deception of the Cheney shooting [are you honestly surprised?] the focus needs to stay on the complete corruption of the Bush Administration.

The Democrats who keep harping about the Cheney shooting BS are no better than the rightwingnuts who crucified Clinton[and still are] over a blowjob. Just because the idiot rightwingnuts do it doesn't mean we should also jump off of the cliff. We have to keep to the business [bush corruption] at hand and not be destracted or let up on it for one minute.

Disclaimer: Yes I know, I also have a post about the Cheney shooting but that's all. For me, it's time to move on.

My God, people, get your priorties straight!

And So It Goes...

Once again it looks like the totally corrupt King George will get away with more corruption. Through closed meetings with Rrepublicans only the Bush/Cheney team have once again convinced their corrupt sheep to drop any and all possible investigations into the Bush NSA criminal activity.

Congressional Probe of NSA Spying Is in Doubt
White House Sways Some GOP Lawmakers

[clip]

Congress appeared ready to launch an investigation into the Bush administration's warrantless domestic surveillance program last week, but an all-out White House lobbying campaign has dramatically slowed the effort and may kill it, key Republican and Democratic sources said yesterday.

Lawmakers cite senators such as Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) to illustrate the administration's success in cooling congressional zeal for an investigation. On Dec. 20, she was among two Republicans and two Democrats who signed a letter expressing "our profound concern about recent revelations that the United States Government may have engaged in domestic electronic surveillance without appropriate legal authority." The letter urged the Senate's intelligence and judiciary committees to "jointly undertake an inquiry into the facts and law surrounding these allegations."

In an interview yesterday, Snowe said, "I'm not sure it's going to be essential or necessary" to conduct an inquiry "if we can address the legislative standpoint" that would provide oversight of the surveillance program. "We're learning a lot and we're going to learn more," she said.

She cited last week's briefings before the full House and Senate intelligence committees by Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and former NSA director Michael V. Hayden.

"The administration has obviously gotten the message that they need to be more forthcoming," Snowe said. [Oh yeah, Snowe, King George has gotten the message, sure he has. As if.]

One wonders what it will take for the Democrats to stand up and demand that this corrupt Bush Administration be held accountable for their out and out crimes against the American people?

May I recommend we vote into office a new group of Liberal Democrats who are not Republicans in Democrat's clothing. This has got to stop and now. It appears the Democrats in Congress are as corrupt as the Republicans and have no desire to serve the American people.

The power is truly in the hands of the American people and the sooner they realize that the sooner we can do something about the corruption in Washington.

In the seventies (the Nixon days) we had a saying...

POWER TO THE PEOPLE
Wake up people and realize, you have the power. It's called...voting.

Well, This Is A Whole Nuther Covey Of Quail

Vice President Dick Cheney, who usually comes to the White House with the blaring sirens of his motorcade, arrived through a back gate without sirens today.

Contrary to earlier reports that Whittington, the gentelman whom Mr. Cheney shot while quail hunting, was not critical, it would appear now however, according to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times he was much more seriously injured than previously thought.

Katherine Armstrong owner of the ranch and witness to the shooting claimed on Feb. 12th that “It broke the skin,” she said of the shotgun pellets. “It knocked him silly. But he was fine. He was talking. His eyes were open. It didn’t get in his eyes or anything like that.”

As of today, Feb. 14th, Whittington had a heart attack and was rushed into emergency surgery to remove birdshot from his heart. The Houston Chronicle is reporting...

Peter Banko, the hospital administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, said Harry Whittington had the heart attack early today while being evaluated.

He said there was an irregularity in the heartbeat caused by a pellet, and doctors performed a cardiac catheterization. Whittington expressed a desire to leave the hospital, but Banko said he would probably stay for another week.

In the case that Whittington should die the Texas Penal Code states:

§ 19.01. TYPES OF CRIMINAL HOMICIDE.

(a) A person commits criminal homicide if he intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence causes the death of an individual.

(b) Criminal homicide is murder, capital murder, manslaughter, or criminally negligent homicide.

The White House has chosen to use humor in regard to Cheney's committing near murder.

My God, can you imagine if Clinton or Al Gore had committed a shooting like this? The Republican's would be calling for their hanging.

Infantry Team Leader In Iraq To Poet

Brian Turner an infantry team leader while in Iraq has written a book of poems, "Here, Bullet," about his experiences while in Iraq.

One of the poems in his book is entitled "Eulogy" which memorializes a friend who committed suicide while on duty in Iraq and is the centerpiece of his book.

"Eulogy" from "Here, Bullet."

It happens on a Monday, at 11:20 A.M.,
as tower guards eat sandwiche
sand seagulls drift by on the Tigris River.
Prisoners tilt their heads to the west
though burlap sacks and duct tape blind them.
The sound reverberates down concertina coils
the way piano wire thrums when given slack.
And it happens like this, on a blue day of sun,
when Private Miller pulls the trigger
to take brass and fire into his mouth:
the sound lifts the birds up off the water,
a mongoose pauses under the orange trees,
and nothing can stop it now, no matter what
blur of motion surrounds him, no matter what voices
crackle over the radio in static confusion,
because if only for this moment the earth is stilled,
and Private Miller has found what low hush there is
down in the eucalyptus shade, there by the river.
